Abstract:
In radiochromic films, the active layer comprises radiation-sensitive microcrystals embedded in gelatin. When the microcrystals are exposed to ionizing radiation, they polymerize and the polymerization reaction occurs at a constant rate. The polymer changes the color of the crystal to shades of blue. The color change depends on the chemical properties of the absorbing film and dose. In this article, a method is developed for the irradiation and analysis of Gafchromic EBT3 films. The film was calibrated and irradiated with a conventional 10*10 cm2 field to create this method in solid water. Observing the difference in the amount of red matrix obtained for each film at the same beam irradiation, we found that the beam-sensitive microcrystals were not uniformly distributed within the active layer.
