Abstract:

Background: Mosquitoes are responsible to transmission of some important diseases comprises; dirofilariasis and malaria. Study on fauna and ecological aspects of mosquito’s are very important for management of vector control programs.Objectives: The aim of this investigation was to found the mosquitoes fauna, composition and their distribution in study area.Materials and Methods: Four localities were selected across Mehdishahr county, Semnan province, northeastern Iran. Mosquitoes adult s were collected using the Hand catch. Pyrethrum space spray collection, Human and animal baited net traps and larvae were collected by Dipping standard methods. Mosquitoes were identified using specific systematic keys.Results: Three genera and nine different species were collected and identified including; Anopheles claviger. An. maculipennis, An superpictus , Culex. hortensis, Cx. mimeticus, Cx. perexigus, Cx. pipiens, Cx.theileri., Culiseta longiareolata.Conclusion: Different climatic condition was found, which provides suitable environment for the establishment of various species of mosquitoes. The mosquito’s surveillance programe suggest in this area and other bordered provinces.
