Epidemiologic condition of breast and genital system cancers diagnosed in women referred to Fasa Vali-Asr Hospital in 1382-1391

Abstract:

Introduction: Nowadays cancers are one of the most important problems especially among women. Breast cancer has a special importance because it is the most common cancer in women. Information availability of disease distribution in community may help to solve this problem. This study was done on referred patients to Fasa Vali -Asr hospital for evaluation of epidemiologic condition of common cancer in women.Material and methods: For doing this cross sectional study, registered data in pathology ward of Fasa Vali-Asr hospital in 1382-91 was collected and analyzed with SPSS 21.Results: During these 10 years 126 cases of breast and genital cancers were diagnosed in referred women. Mean age was 51.2±14 and 50-59 year old women had the most frequency. 63.5% of patients live in urban areas. Breast cancer had the most frequency and most common type of breast cancer was infiltrating ductal carcinoma. Only in 41 cases grade was registered and 61% has grade 2, 26.8% has grade 1 and 12.2% has grade3. Seasonal distribution shows that most cancers were diagnosed in spring. × Conclusion: The most common cancer in women was breast cancer. In genital system cancers, against other similar studies in Iran that ovarian or cervical cancer has the most frequency, in our study endometrial adenocarcinoma has the most frequency. Message for Policy Makers: Since breast cancer is the third cause of death in women and it is correlated with other diseases and cancers. The epidemiological study for this cancer in different stages caused the health policy community will program for treatment stages and financial costs, also they can plan to prevent the prevalence of breast cancer in higher stages.
