Basal cell carcinoma, Squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma are some types of skin cancer and their epidemiology is very important in prevention and treatment.Material and methods: Data obtained between 1382 and 1391 from a descriptive cross-sectional study in 372 patients with skin cancer in Valiasr hospital of Fasa. Age, sex, city, type of skin cancer and site of lesions in the body were evaluated and compared. Descriptive statistics and Chi_Square test were used to assess epidemiological characteristics. Results: The mean age (mean- standard deviation) of patients was 65-15 years (15-96 yrs) and most of them (66%) were males. The most common pathologic types of skin cancer were basal cell carcinoma (76%), squamous cell carcinoma (14.5%) and malignant melanoma (3.2%) and the most frequent site of tumor expression was face (61.2%).Conclusion: The most common skin cancer was basal cell carcinoma. Squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma were less common skin cancers. It was more common on the face due to more sunlight exposure. Special education and screening program for detection of this disease at an earlier stage is recommended.Message for Policy Makers: The epidemiological study for this cancer in different stages caused the health policy community will program for treatment stages, financial costs, and insurance status, also they can plan to prevent the prevalence of skin cancer in higher stages.
