Abstract:

Background: To date, some studies in twins have explained the robust evidence of the influence of some genetic variants and environmental exposures that drive the epidemic of obesity, cardiovascular disease and mental status. Overweighing is one of the most important risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Conventional risk factors include abdominal obesity, hypertension, lifestyle, smoking/alcohol consumption, reduced physical activity and diabetes. Three classified forms of obesity were identified: monogenic obesity, syndromic obesity and polygenic obesity. Women with overweighting without known cardiovascular disease have a risk of a myocardial infarction comparable to women with normal weight. Methods: We examined a computerized search of the Medline/ PubMed databases and medical journals with the keywords obesity, genetic biomarkers, heart disease and women. Results: Depression and obesity in women increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and patients with a family history or under antidepressant medications are at greater risk. Many genes, such as CYP, are involved in metabolizing drugs, so the rate of drug metabolism varies in individuals. Therefore, the response to medication and susceptibility to disease are different in populations. The influence of high-calorie diets and obese phenotype in families or obesity during the age of 10-14 years substantially increases the risk of being an obese adult. Conclusion: Genetic studies have provided conflicting associations of a candidate gene with a higher risk of obesity and heart disease. Understanding the genetic determinants will lead to early detection of a new case and prevention approach for complex obesity-related traits. Furthermore, some of these candidate genes may larger effects on related phenotype with considering lifestyle conditions and dietary factors.Message for policy markers: Considering that there is a great deal of ethnic and racial diversity in Iran. Therefore, this ethnic diversity leads to different lifestyles and moods in women. It is recommended to screen and identify women at risk for obesity and its complications. According to the genetic profile of the individuals in each region, specific diet and medication should be prescribed and the genetic diversity of each region should be identified.
