Acceptance and commitment therapy was established in the year 1986 by Steven C. Hayes, which is part of the third wave of behavioral therapies that can have a positive impact on improving the quality of general and sexual life.Method: In this simple review study, search in databases, Google scholar, Pubmed, Medline, Irandoc, SID, and Science direct were searched with keywords based on acceptance and commitment therapy, sexual issues, ACT, sexual dysfunctions, and finally 20 domestic articles and 10 foreign papers Clay. Results: According to research, acceptance and commitment therapy improves the components of marital satisfaction and improve the quality of life of people. Also, it has positive effects on increasing sexual responses (desire, arousal and orgasm) reduction sexual distress in female claimants of sexual dissatisfaction and improving sexual self-efficacy. In ACT, the main purpose of creating psychological flexibility is to create the ability to choose a practical choice among the various options that are more appropriate, not the action that a person is solely to abstain from, to avoid thoughts, feelings, memories or negative desires. In fact, this approach does not know the existence of the negative and annoying thoughts, beliefs and feelings that hinder healthy sexual function and consequently prevents sexual satisfaction, but also what reduces sexual function is a kind of relationship that a person makes with these thoughts and feelings. Six processes have been introduced as the main components of this approach include: diffusion, acceptance, contact with the present time, self- observing, values, practice committed. This approach can also be applicable in patients with healthy people s illusion. Conclusion: The use of this approach in counseling of sexual issues is an effective and usable approach to clinical and sexual health issues.
