Abstract:

Background & Aims: One of the problems after rape in women is stress disorder. According to the high prevalence of PTSD in victims of rape and lack of information and research in this field in Iran anddue to the fact that the incidence of PTSD certainly closely associated with different risk factors this study tries to identify predictive pre-exposure factors PTSD in complaining of rape, With the rape identification of victims at risk and their timely referral for appropriate intervention and follow-up, one hand to prevent it from causing symptoms of PTSD and other hand step toward reducing costs for the victims and the government.Materials & Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. An analysis performed on 130 cases of rape victims referred to the Legal Medicine Organization in Tehran. The tool was a two section questionnaire. The first one was Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms Scale questionnaire (PSS_I) for identifying PTSD samples, and the another one was a researcher made questionnaire for pre-exposure factors to PTSD in Rape. Descriptive statistics and chi-square test, Fisher test, Pearson analysis and SPSS 21 software used for data analysis.Results: In this study, 61.6% of the samples had PTSD. In pre-exposure factors of rape At seconds on of the family have a significant relationship with PTSD.Conclusion :In this study, we found a high prevalence of PTSD among rape complainants. Due to the risk factors associated with PTSD in rape complainants, the health providers can quickly discover them and their timely referral to appropriate centers can reduce the incidence of PTSD in rape.
