Background and Aim : Alcohol consumption is one of the main causes of Myocardial Infarction (MI) in young people. This drug plays a very important role in some cancers, including liver cancer. The purpose of this study is to determine the awareness of women in Sanandaj about alcohol consumption and its life-threatening losses in 2019.Methods : This was a cross-sectional study conducted during the first six months of 2019. The samples consisted of 120 women from marginal areas in Sanandaj who were randomly selected. The data gathering tool was a two-part questionnaire. The first section was the demographic characteristics of women. The second section included 18 questions about women s awareness of alcohol and the risks of its using. Collected data was entered into the computer and analyzed using SPSS 20.Results : The mean age of the examined specimens was 23.12±4.32 years. 89 cases of them were married and the rest were single. More than 38% of them had elementary education and only 35 of them had university education. Ten of them said they had consumed alcohol at least once in their lives. 35 of them said their husbands were alcoholic. Only 15 of them mentioned a lot of alcohol damage. Awareness of over 60% of them was poorly informed about the dangers of alcohol consumption. More than 89% of them said they hate alcohol and its taking. There was a statistically significant difference between education level and knowledge about alcohol and its losses (p= 0.001). Altogether, 68 people said alcohol consumption could cause destruction in the relationship between family members and is one of the reasons for divorce.Conclusion : Given the low level of awareness in women about alcohol and its disadvantages, it is suggested to hold classes in health centers to increase the awareness of surveyed women.
