MATERNAL ADDICTION IN PREGNANCY AND ITS EFFECT ON CHILD HEALTH IN SIRJAN CITY

Abstract:

Background and Aim : Neonatal addiction is one of the consequences of the addiction of pregnant families and mothers; An issue that many still try to conceal and deny, but, unfortunately, they are seen more often in society. Drugs usually reduce women s libido, ovulation and oviposition in women. Drug use also causes the pelvic inflammatory disease and HIV and increases abortion. About 10 percent of the drug addicts in the country are women. Women are less likely to use illicit drugs than men, but women are more likely to experience addiction when they start taking it and experience negative results earlier. One of the consequences of women s addiction is the risk to their children in the future. The aim of this study was to determine the role of maternal addiction in childhood addiction. Methods : : This case-control study In 1397 on the 50 Of addicted girls and women of ages 18-25 Year in the city of Sirjan. Sampling was done randomly in two groups of 18 to 20 year olds and 21 to 25 years old. Data were analyzed by SPSS(11.5) software. Descriptive statistics and descriptive statistics were used to describe the variables in the three groups of parametric tests (analysis of variance) and nonparametric (Kruskal Wallis). P value less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results : : There was a statistically significant relationship between maternal addiction and pregnancy and childhood addiction. (p<0.001) There was also a significant relationship between maternal addiction and physical impairment at birth, history of domestic violence, physical and mental abuse of the child (p<0.01). Conclusion : : Considering the relationship between maternal addiction in pregnancy and the addiction of their daughters in the future, and the effect of maternal addiction on all aspects of children s health, attention to mother and child care and efforts to prevent, treat and control substance abuse Pregnancy and pregnancy care is essential.
