Abstract:

Background and Aim : The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of metacognitive therapy on self-control of mothers quitting addictive substances.Methods : The research is a semi-experimental type with pretest-posttest design and implemented with control group. The statistical population consisted of all women who were quitting addictive drugs in rehabilitation centers in Kermanshah. A sample of 30 people by available sampling method based on purpose aim with random selection method was selected. They divided into two equal group. One 15-member group was experimental and the other was control group. Data collection was done by Tangji self-control questionnaire (2004). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and covariance analysis.Results : The results showed that there was a significant difference between the mean values of self-control in the experimental and control group in the post-test (P <0.05).Conclusion : According to the results, a metacognitive therapy program along with drug therapies can be used to improve the psychological well-being of addicted people.
