Abstract:

Background and Aim : Today, addiction is a health and public health problem all over the world and in all countries. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group-based cognitive-behavioral therapy on reducing anxiety and depression in opioid addicts in Ahvaz Center for reducing drug use harmMethods : : A randomized clinical trial study was performed on 32 addicts who were covered in the Substance Abuse Treatment Center in two experimental and control groups (n = 16) and control group (n = 16). The experimental group was treated for 12 sessions of 60 minutes based on the cognitive-behavioral group therapy charter. The subjects completed the GHQ-28 General Health Questionnaire at the beginning of the research and post-test. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics methods were used and for data normalization, Levine test and Shiipro Wylk test and covariance analysis were usedResults : : The results showed that cognitive-behavioral group therapy significantly increased the anxiety subscale in the addicted people (p = 0.001). There was no significant difference in the depression scale (p = 0.159)Conclusion : : Cognitive-behavioral group therapy was effective in improving the status of anxiety in the addict group. Therefore, the positive effect of this treatment can be more successful in the treatment of addiction
