THE EFFECTIVENESS OF LOGOTHERAPY ON REDUCING SUICIDAL THOUGHTS IN HEROIN ABUSERS WITH DEPRESSION

Background and Aim : The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of logotherapy on reducing suicidal thoughts in heroin abusers with depressionMethods : The sample consisted of 30 people who were selected through targeted sampling.15 subjects in the experimental group and 15 subjects in the control group were randomly assigned. A quasi-experimental design was a pre-test-posttest with control group and follow-up period. Measurement tool included tiffany and heroin craving questionnaire. To run, at first, a pretest was taken from both groups. then, the experimental group received a meaningful therapy during 8 sessions and after the two groups, they were subjected to post-test. And one month later, the follow-up process was completed. Results : Data analysis was performed using multivariate covariance analysis (MANCOVA) and one way analysis of covariance (Ankawa). The results showed that meaningfulness of medication was in depressing heroin s suicidal thoughts for heroin users, and this result was stable at the follow-up stage.Conclusion : Therefore, the meaning of the effectiveness of logotherapy on reducing suicidal thoughts in heroin abusers with depression
