Abstract:
Background and Aim : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of life skills training (self-awareness and effective communication) in preventing high school students addiction.Methods : The present study was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest design with control group. The statistical population of this study included all high school students in the city of Birjand. The sample size was 15 subjects and 15 controls were selected by available sampling method. To measure the variables of the research, Mirhasami s addiction-addiction (2009) questionnaire was used for teaching self-awareness skills and effective communication of 10 sessions of 2 hours. Results : Data analysis was done by covariance analysis. Findings of the research showed that life skills training in preventing addiction has been effective.Conclusion : Therefore, it can be concluded that the effectiveness of life skills training (self-awareness and effective communication) can be a good way to prevent addiction.
