SANANDAJ WOMEN S OPINION ABOUT REASONS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO USE DRUGS, 2018

Background and Aim : Drug use will destroy the person and his family. There are many reasons why young people tend to use drugs. In this study, we aimed to survey the views of women in Sanandaj about the reasons for youth trends in drug use.Methods : In this descriptive-analytical study, 100 women in different regions of Sanandaj city were randomly selected based on the purpose of the study. The study was a two-part questionnaire. The first part of the questionnaire included age, marital status, educational level, occupation and the presence of addicted persons in their residential home. The second part of the questionnaire consisted of 10 questions about the reasons for youth tendency toward narcotics. Collected data was entered into the computer and analyzed using SPSS 20.Results : The mean age of the examined specimens was 25.65±3.24 year. 60% of them were married, 20% were divorced and the rest were single. 30% of them were illiterate, 40% had a high school degree, and the rest had university education. 20% of them were employed and the rest were housewives. More than 30% of them have stated that one of their family members has a history of drug use. More than 87% of them believed that the most important reason for young people to use drugs was their inability to work and said that if young people had a good job, they would not take drugs. More than 80% of them said that bad friends make young people turn to drugs. Twenty percent of them believed that corrupt and prostitute women could drive young people into drug use. 45 of them believed that the family plays a key role in educating young people, and those who live in a barren and overlapping family are more likely to use drugs than others.Conclusion : The findings of this study indicate that unemployment and having bad friends are one of the most important reasons for young people s tendency to use drugs, and therefore these important issues should be taken into consideration and families should be more careful about their children in choosing their friends.
