Abstract:

Background and Aim : : The purpose of this study is to review the studies on the factors affecting the return of substance abusers in order to provide appropriate therapeutic approaches to the continuation of treatment in relapsing-remitting individuals. Investigating the causes and factors influencing drug abuse has always been important because of the impact that effective treatment choices have made, because different treatment approaches have addressed substance abuse with emphasis on different causes and factors. However, the study of the factors influencing the relapse of substance abusers has been less analyzed due to the key role in evaluating and investigating the ineffectiveness of various therapeutic methods. Methods : This study is a review study conducted by searching in the following English and Persian databases that relate to the results and studies conducted between 2010 and 2018: Science Direct, Elsevier, Pubmed, Google scholars, irandoc, sid, noormags, magiran. Results : A review of various studies suggests that various factors such as psychological, behavioral, environmental, emotional, social, situational, etc. are predisposing factors in the occurrence of relapse in substance abuse. In other words, the impact of various factors such as individual factors, Interpersonal factors, societal factors and situational factors are clearly evident in the return of individuals to addiction. However, examining the effect of which factor can be a powerful predictor of the relapse of individuals can also be beneficial in the field of treatment. Generally, substance abuse, its continuation, and recurrence are the result of a variety of causes, requiring more in-depth research. Conclusion : The results of the surveys show that among individual factors, type of substance, in interpersonal factors, the rate of acceptance or exclusion from the family and community, among social factors, socializing with addicted friends, and finally, among situational factors, the individual s access to drugs has more statistics on the impact of returning to addiction. Thus, the type of substance used through the influence on neural cells and the creation of dependency, the denial of the family and the community by influencing the individual s self-confidence, the factor of socializing with addicted friends by tempting the person and being in situations where the amount of drug use is higher increases the risk of a person s relapse to addiction
