Abstract:

Background and Aim : Alcohlism is one of the anomalies and dependencies that reduces the influence and destructiveness of personal, family and social relationships. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of CFT-focused therapy on cognitive-emotional regulation in alcohol dependent patientsMethods : A quasi-experimental design was a pretest, post-test, and control group. The statistical population included all alcohol dependent patients referred to psychiatric and psychiatric clinics of Urmia during the second half of 1397. The sample size was 28, of which 14 subjects with complete satisfaction in the experimental group and 14 others in the control group were replaced. The instruments used included the Conor-Davidson Resilience Questionnaire (CD-RIS) and the CERQ Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (GARENSKI & CRAIGE, 2006). The experimental group received 8 consecutive 45-minute compassion-focused treatments (CFT) and the control group The data were analyzed using MANCOVA method.Results : The results showed that CFT in the post-test stage increased the resilience and improved cognitive-emotional adjustment in alcohol-dependent patients in the experimental group compared with the control group.Conclusion : According to the findings, compassion-focused therapy (CFT) can be used as an effective treatment to increase resiliency and improve cognitive-emotional management in alcohol dependent patients.
