Abstract:
Background and Aim : Nowadays quality of life is known as an important determinant in the evaluation of health situation, and communities’ development.The aim of the present study was to The Effect of Therapeutic Community (TC) on Improving the Quality of Life of Addict prisoners Treated In the Central Prison of Tehran.Methods : : The present study was an experimental study with pretest-posttest design. The statistical population includes all addicted prisoners in the central prison of Tehran. Samples were selected by stratified and random sampling among prisoners who were at the Tehran prison. A total of 235 Prisoners were selected, of which 135 were in the experimental group and 100 in the control group. The experimental group received 3 months of Interventions Therapeutic Community (TC) and The control group received routine prison services. Data were gathered using a demographic questionnaire and quality of life scale (IRQOL), (WHOQL version 26). Data were analyzed using ANCOVA.Results : The results showed that the difference in therapeutic community in improving the psychological dimensions and social relationships was statistically significant (p <0.05), but in improving the physical dimension of quality of life, there was no significant difference (p> 0.05).Conclusion : The findings of this study are based on the effectiveness of community therapy in improving the psychological and social dimensions of quality of life with previous findings on the impact of community therapy on reducing syndrome and drug abuse and promoting individual and social skills. This treatment is effective in improving the quality of life of addicted prisoners
