EFFECT OF SELF-MANAGEMENT TRAINING PROGRAM ON THE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF DRUG ADDICTION IN ADDICTS REFERRING TO COUNSELING CENTERS

Abstract:

Background and Aim : Drug use and the issue of addiction are one of the most important problems of the present age, which has become widespread. Addiction along with malnutrition and environmental pollution is one of the major problems of human societies, unfortunately, it has hit all industrial and non-industrial societies. Few phenomena can be found that threaten human societies like addiction. The issue of drug trafficking or the prevention of drug addiction has been one of the concerns of the authorities, as well as those who are suffering from substance abuse and their families. Self-management training can help these people manage their addiction problems or prevent them from becoming addicted.The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of self-management training program on the prevention and treatment of addiction in addicts referring to counseling centers.Methods : This research is an applied research and is part of a semi-experimental research (with a test group and a control group). The population of this study is all addicts in Bushehr city. A sample of 30 addicts referred to consulting centers in Bushehr city (15 control and 15 experimental groups) were selected through available sampling. The criteria for selecting a drug addict and those referring to counseling centers were the criteria. Saidian et al. (1396) self-management training program was used for self-management training. For data analysis, covariance analysis was used.Results : The results showed that self-management education has been effective in preventing and treating addiction addicts and reducing addiction.Conclusion : Therefore, it can be concluded that self-management program training can be effective in preventing and preventing addiction trapping. It is also anticipated that this type of training will also be effective in preventing addiction
