Abstract:
The analytical prediction of rotor dynamic behavior depends heavily on the accuracy of the models used. The modeling method transform the complex physical system to a simplified low order equivalent mathematical representations. In this paper equivalent modeling of a blower shaft is considered. There is an impeller mounted on the shaft which introduces diffi-culties in equivalent modelling of the whole assembly. A detailed finite element model is constructed for the shaft to be used as a reference in the equivalent modeling validation pro-cedure. It is shown in this paper that the method used for modeling the impeller is responsible for the deviation between the dynamic properties of the equivalent model and detailed model.
