Abstract:

Background: Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the most important opportunistic enteric bacteria and is a major cause of pneumonia and wound infectious. Multidrug resistant strains characterization, diagnosis multiple virulence factors are the important objective of this cross-sectional research. In this regard, the aim here is to investigate the frequency of fimH, magA, and rmpA genes among Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from bedsore wound infections hospitalized in internal section of Isfahan hospital. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 107 Klebsiella pneumoniae strains were collected from hospitalized patients in Isfahan. In the present study, antibiotic susceptibility pattern was donning according to disc diffusion method. In addition, frequency of magA, fimH, and rmpA genes was evaluated by PCR methods. Results: All of 107 strains were collected from bed sore wound infections. Antibiogram show that, the highest resistance rate related to cefotaxime (72%) and erythromycin (67.4%) and also the lowest resistance rates related to imipenem (12.5%). The molecular method noted the frequency of rmpA (23.7%), magA (2.1%) and fimH (73.8%). Conclusion: Our results demonstrated the high antibiotic resistance and multidrug resistance strains among Klebsiella pneumoniae strains are increasing. On the other hand, the presence of some virulence factors can play a significant role in the development of resistant strains.
