Introduction & Objective: In recent years, wounds and infections caused by wounds and the growing trend of drug resistance have led researchers to focus on medicinal use as alternative solutions. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of topical application of Mentha piperita spray and Mentha piperita alcoholic extract on open wound healing by morphometric and histopathological evaluation.Methods: J Image software is used to measure wounds and to count cells and strands. SPSS software version 22 was used for statistical analysis. Using similar paper data which includes mean and standard deviation of outcome variables in different groups, using G-Power version 3.1.7 software to evaluate intra-group changes on days 1, 4, 7, 10 and 14) The sample was calculated. Independent t-test will be used to compare mean quantitative outcomes between the two groups. Chi-square or Fisher exact tests will be used to compare the qualitative factors between the two groups. P-value <0.05 will also be considered statistically significant.Results: In the present study, there was no significant difference between the experimental groups in wound healing on the first day after wound healing. On the fourth day, despite the differences between the study groups, these differences were not statistically significant. But at the 7th day there was a significant difference between the level of wound in the control group and the rest of the treated groups. In this difference, the wounds healed by peppermint alcoholic extract also increased the healing percentage over time, and the groups using the peppermint alcoholic extract had a higher rate of healing than the other groups. About 95% of peppermint extract was effective in wound healing and was significantly different from other groups.Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that hydroalcoholic extract of peppermint (Mentha piperita) was significantly effective in reducing inflammation and regeneration of wound and also in the treatment period compared to the control group. Due to the side effects of the drugs, this extract can be used as an effective factor in accelerating the healing process of skin wounds.
