Abstract:

Cancer was the second leading cause of death with over 8.7 million deaths in 2015. It is predicted that the prevalence of cancers in developed countries will increase by 45% by the year 2025. According to the GloboCAN 2018 estimates, the shares of cancer incidence and deaths in Asia are 48.4% and 57.3%, respectively.Breast cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in women and the second most common cancer overall and according to WHO there were over 2 million new cases in 2018. Its mortality trends were favorable in North America, and a further 10% reduction in their overall rates is predicted for 2020, to reach values of 11-12/100,000 women, i.e. about 50% lower than their top rates in the later 1980 s.The most common symptom of breast cancer is breast painless mass and other symptoms are: Skin changes such as swelling, redness or other visible differences in one or both breasts, increasing in size or change in shape of the breast(s), changes in the appearance of one or both nipples, nipple discharge, lumps or nodes felt on or inside of the breast, changes in touch (may feel hard, tender or warm), peeling or flaking of the nipple skin, redness or pitting of the breast skin (like the skin of an orange)Diagnosis is based on: Breast exam, Mammography, Breast ultrasound, removing a sample of breast cells for testing (biopsy), Breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).TreatmentBreast cancer is treated with a multidisciplinary approach involving surgery, chemotherapy, radio therapy and hormontherapy, which all has been associated with a reduction in breast cancer mortality. With this growing global burden, prevention of breast cancer is one of the most significant public health challenges of the 21st century by increasing physical activity and achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight, healthy nutrition and breast screening in high risk family.
