Abstract:
Cystic echinococcosis (hydatidosis) is caused by Echinococcus granulosus, a tape worm from Taeniidae family. It rarely manifest as an intramuscular mass in endemic areas (2-3% of all cases). We report a 55 year-old farmer with a thigh mass which was asymptomatic for 35 years and only caused exertional pain in the last 40 days of the disease course. No other hydatidosis were found. Patient pre-treated whit Albendazole and cured with surgical removal of the tumor.
