Abstract:
Crohn’s disease (CD) is a disorder of unknown etiology characterized by transmural inflammation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.(1) Common presenting symptoms include chronic diarrhea, weight loss, right lower quadrant abdominal pain and tenderness mimicking acute appendicitis (2, 3). Laboratory evidence of vitamin B12 deficiency has been reported in approximately 20 percent of adult and pediatric patients with Crohn’s disease.(4)
