Abstract:
Histological abnormality which associated with HBV induced nephrotic syndrome usually consistent with membranous glomerulonephritis. The association between HBV and other type of glomerulonephritis is conflicting. Here we report a case of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis with HBV infection. abstract A 67 year old women who was referred due to edema and nephrotic range proteinuria. she had 9 gram protein in her 24hrs urine collection, serum Albumin 2.8 mg/dl, serum creatinine 2.3 mg/dl and positive HBSAg result. Other serologic findings were normal, she underwent renal biopsy and the result was consistent with FSGS NOS variant. Result of HBV DNA PCR was positive. she recieved Tenofovir and proteinuria decreased significantly and Albumin increased to 3.5 g/dl.discussion FSGS is a rare pathologic subtype in HBV infected patients. Positive HBV DNA PCR result and and significant reduction of proteinuria after Tenofovir administration is consistent with association between HBV infection and FSGS in this case.
