THE COMPARISON OF CLINICAL OUTCOMES IN VELPEAU BANDAGE AND EIGHT BANDAGE IN TREATMENT OF CHILD’S CLAVICLE BONE FRACTURE: A RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIALS STUDY

Abstract:

Background and Aim : Clavicle bone fracture is one of the common bone injuries. The purposeof this study is comparing the clinical outcomes in Velpeau bandage and eight bandage in treatmentof child’s Clavicle fracture.Methods : This is a Randomized clinical trial (RCT) which performed 74 patients who referred tothe Emergency department which the diagnosis of Clavicle fracture in children confirmed byclinical examination and simple radiography. Patients randomly divided into two groups, thetreatment by Velpeau bandage and treatment by eight bandage. After completing bandages, thepatients underwent the same supportive recommendations and 2 weeks after the intervention, bytelephone, regarding to the total satisfaction, their comfort and severity of pain and after six weekthrough an outpatient visit for evaluation of shoulder movement limitations and daily activity boneshortening and complications. Finally, the data were analyzed by SPSS version20 software.Results : There were no significant differences between the two groups in age and sex (P> 0.05).The results showed that there was no significant relationship between limitation of shouldermovement (P = 0.69) after 6 weeks and pain (P = 0.46) after 2 weeks and the type of bandage used for patients. there was no significant relationship with the type of bandage used for patients. Itshould be noted that none of the patients had complications.Conclusion : Overall, regarding the results of this study on comparing it with similar studies anddiagnosis of the doctor, it seems that there is no clinically differences in treatment of child’sClavicle fracture by Velpeau bandage and eight bandage and the use of each bandage dependedon the diagnosis of the doctor.
