Abstract:
Background and Aim : Cesarean section scar is a common complication in women with cesarean sectionhistory. The diagnosis of this complication is based on hysteroscopy that is costly, invasive and with lowaccess. This study was performed to determine the diagnostic value of transvaginal sonography incomparison with hysteroscopy in diagnosis of cesarean section scar. Methods : In a cross-sectional study, 100 women with suspected cesarean scar symptoms were underhysteroscopy and transvaginal ultrasonography. Ultrasound diagnostic values (sensitivity, specificity, falsepositive and negative, positive predictive value, and test accuracy ) Was compared with the hysteroscopy(as standard Gold). Results : Sensitivity, specificity, false positive, false negative, positive and negative predictive value andaccuracy of transvaginal sonography were 92.5%, 93.6%, 6.4%, 7.5% 94.2% , 91.7% and 93% respectively. Conclusion : Our findings showed that transvaginal ultrasonography has a significant role in the diagnosisof cesarean section defects, and considering the advantages of transvaginal ultrasound such as less invasive, increased access and lower costs, this method can probably be used to diagnose cesarean section scardeficiency
