Abstract:

Background and Aim : Pregnancy anxiety, as a common form of psychiatric illness, is a reflection ofstress response, which occurs when personal well-being is threatened during Antenatal period, few studiesperformed among Iranian people in this respect, so the authors wanted to investigate health- related anxietyand associated factors among pregnant women and to provide scientific basis to reduce prenatal anxietyeffectively.Methods : Methods: Face to face deep semi-structured interview was conducted with anxious pregnantwomen who were referring to Tehran health care services with using purposeful sampling, and data analysiswas conducted from a content analysis perspectiveResults : Twenty eight pregnant women from different social backgrounds, educational levels andethnicities aged 18-41 years old participated in this study and after analysis anxiety-creating componentswas classified into 4 themes, including: physical complications, psychological complications fear ofcesarean, fear of normal delivery.Conclusion : The results of this study identified the causes of health related -anxiety in pregnant women,so health care providers should identify mothers at risk and prevent or reduce antenatal anxiety fromoccurring by improving the health status of pregnant women and strengthening prenatal-related educationand mental interventions
