Background and Aim : Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is described as a collection of predictable physical,cognitive, affective and behavioral symptoms that occur cyclically during the luteal phase of the menstrualcycle and resolve quickly at or within a few days of the onset of menstruation. The purpose of this studywas to compare the effect of family centered and individual nutrition education on decrease bodily signs ofpremenstruation syndrome in daughters 14- 18 years old.Methods : This study is a clinical trial on 342 daughters 14-18 years with premenstruation syndrome.Patients were divided randomly into three groups, control, students and students ‘s mothers. The programincluded information providing about nutrition. Model of intervention was training to mothers of studentsand students. A paired-samples t-test was conducted to compare PMS before intervention and afterintervention. Participants completed the demographic and PMS and recall 24 hours of nutrientquestionnaire. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 23.Results : : In this study, we found a significant difference in the scores for before (M=28.11, SD=6.37) andafter (M=22.29, SD=5.46) intervention in students group; p < 0.001. There was a significant difference inthe scores for before (M=28.77, SD=6.69) and after (M=21.83, SD=5.37) intervention in mothers group; p< 0.001. These results suggest that nutrition education intervention really does have an effect on PMS,Specifically bodily signs of PMS decreases.Conclusion : Group mother’s students resulted in a significant reduction in severity of bodily signs of PMS.
