Background and Aim : Aluminum is a chemical element that widely used in industry and medicine. Oneof the most important derivatives of aluminum, is aluminum chloride which is used for water refinery anddeodorant manufacture. Also AlCl3 can lead to reproductive disorders. Granulosa cells are the mostimportant cells in ovary that present in all stages of folliculogenesis, protect the oocyte and prepare it forovulation. The aim of this study is investigation the effect of AlCl3 on mice granulosa cells.Methods : For this study, granulosa cells were isolated from 21-day-old female NMRI mice. The isolatedcells were treated with different concentrations of AlCl3 (1,4mM). After treatment, the rate of CYP19aexpression changes was measured by real-time PCR.Results : Our results indicated that AlCl3 influenced steroidogenesis of granulosa cells by increasingCYP19 expressionConclusion : These findings showed that AlCl3 can direct granulosa cells to atresia and increase the rateof steroidogenesis disorders such as granulosa cells tumor, polycystic ovary syndrome and prematureovarian failure.
