Abstract:

Background and Aim : Childbirth is a natural phenomenon without any need for intervention and an onlycesarean section is indicated if the mother or fetus is at risk. Given the increased rate of cesarean sectionand many post-operative complications, prolonged recovery and high cost of labor through surgery andother complications, seems to increase the knowledge and skills of pregnant women to prepare their motherfor normal delivery and improve her health is effective. The main purpose of this study was to investigatethe effect of delivery preparation classes on choosing a delivery methodMethods : Present study is an intervention study with two experimental and control groups. The statisticalpopulation included 70 pregnant women who referred to Zabol health centers. Of these, 35 cases wereselected as the experimental group and 35 cases as the control group. For the experimental group, 8preparation sessions and counseling and training for natural childbirth performed. Then a researcher-madequestionnaire for data collection was used. The Content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed byexperts and faculty members. Descriptive and inferential statistics (Chi-square) were used for data analysisusing SPSS 24 software.Results : Based on the obtained data, it was observed that out of the participants in the training classes, 5cases (14.3%) had a cesarean section and 30 cases (85.7%) had a normal delivery. 18 cases (51.4%) of thecontrol group by natural method and 17 cases (48.6%) delivered by cesarean section. Also, using the dataand chi-square test, it was observed that there was a significantly significant difference between the controland intervention groups in the type of delivery, so that 85.7% of the intervention groups had a normaldelivery. (P = 0/002).Conclusion : The results of this study showed that participation in childbirth preparation classes influencedthe choice of delivery
