For many teachers most of the times, it is a question that which method of testing is more useful, and which method can help their students to learn English better. In this study the researchers investigated the performance of Iranian EFL students on different test methods. These different methods were open-ended, multiple choice, and cloze test. Through stratified random sampling 30 EFL beginner learners in language institutes in Shiraz were selected as the participants of the study. In order to know in which test method students performed better and whether, there is a significant difference between method scores or not, descriptive statistics and analysis of variance performed, results indicate that, their performance in multiple choice method was better than the cloze test, and in the cloze test they performed better than open-ended tests. And there was a significant difference between multiple choice test scores, and cloze test scores. At the of the study the researchers came to the conclusion that Iranian EFL beginner learners, have some problems in their writing skill, and they can not express themselves, in written language well, at the end of the study, the researchers expressed some suggestions and recommendations for the Iranian EFL teachers
