Management of Alveolar Proteinosis by Bronchopulmonary Lavage under Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)

The gold standard of treating Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis (PAP) isbronchopulmonary lavage (BPL). We describe a rare case of BPD for PAP,who underwent extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) due tohypoventilation in the setting of one lung ventilation. First, the clinical courseof the patient is presented; furthermore, the biomolcular basis of PAP andnew treatment approaches is discussed.
