Abstract:

In this study, a RC frame with irregularities of disconnected lateral load system was subjected to explosive loading with different masses of 50, 100 and 200 kg at a distance of 5 meters, and the energy created in the frame was investigated. Considering the critical mass of 200 kg, this loading mass is considered as a base load and is also applied to the regular reinforced concrete frame. Also, the column at the location of the moved shear wall was retrofitted using carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) and was again subjected to an explosive loading of 200 kilograms from 5 meters distance. Results showed that the maximum von Mises in longitude bars of the column are obtained for both the irregular and regular frame 293.3 and 124.88 Mpa, respectively. It is also observed that by using CFRP, von Mises stress in the rebar decreases from 299.3 to 264.2 MPa
