Introduction: Proper sleep is one of the basic principles of body and soul health and plays an important role in regenerating lost energy and preparing the body for physicaland mental activities. Quality and quantity of sleep affect mental activity such as learning and daily physical activity. One of the common problems of the elderly ispoor sleep quality. The aim of this study was to investigate sleep disorders in the elderly. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study wasperformed on 4 elderly people in Shiraz. After distribution of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Questionnaire and demographic questionnaire data were collected and analyzed usingSpss.16 software. Results: The mean age of the subjects was 0.9 and the mean of sleep quality was 2.9. According to the results, 3.9% of people had sleep disorders. There was a significant relationship between sleep disorders and factors such as marital status p = 0.01, age p = 0.004, employment status p = 0.002, living conditions p = 0.003 and economic status p = 0.001. 1% of the subjects used medication and 2% of non-medication methods, which was higher in women than men. The mean sleep disorder was higher in men than in women. Conclusion: Since good quality sleep plays an important role in improving the quality of life of the elderly, health professionals should pay special attention to this issue and provide necessary training to improve the existing conditions.
