Background and Objective: Socializing throughout human life is defined as the process of learning knowledge, skills, relying on the values, beliefs and norms of the profession, and the formation of professional identity. This process begins in nursing with formal education programs and continues with the entry of the individual into work environments. The present review study was conducted to examine the process of nursing socialization and to understand its features and its implications. Search Method: This study is a kind of review-narrative that Was performed in 2017 by searching the articles in databases (Pubmed, Iranmedex, SID, Ovid, Google Scholar (Elsevier) over the 16 years (2000 to 2016) using keywords (Nursing, socialization, professional socialization, nursing profession). As a result, 65 articles were found. After reviewing the title and abstract, 20 articles related to the title of the study were selected for review. Findings: Study results show that occupational socialization is a complex process characterized by 4 characteristics, learning, interaction, evolution and compatibility. One of the most important developments in the concept of importance is the inclusion of comprehensive educational programs, appropriate role models, providing opportunities for experiencing, and providing constructive feedback in educational and work environments. Social consequences are very wide, variable and influenced by personal, institutional and situational factors. Occupational socialization is associated with desirable results, and sometimes with unpleasant consequences. Conclusion: Occupational socialization is an inevitable, complex, variable, dynamic, permanent and, at the same time, unpredictable one. Occupational socialization is associated with positive and negative consequences. Effective socialization in the nursing profession requires the provision of facilities and facilities in the field of education and services.
