Abstract:

Back ground and Aim:Ischemic Heart Disease IHD is one of the most common chronic diseases and major causes of mortality in the world with high hospital admissions. One of determining and effective factors in health maintenance and prevention of progression of signs and symptoms of IHD is self-care agency. In this line, the present study was implemented to determine the self-care ability and quality of life among patients with heart failure in Jahrom.Methods and Materials: This is a descriptive cross sectional study and its samples were 30 patients who admitted to hospital of jahrom. Data were collected by the European questionnaire of self-care agency and health related quality of life. Data were analyzed by SPSS 19 statistical software and descriptive-statistical tests.Results: Self-care ability with the average of 45.21 ±5.32 was found to be in a mild level. Significant difference was showed in adherence of self-care behaviors p<0.001 and its dimensions diet regimen, physical activity, stressor modification and smoking at those days p<0. 001 . Statistical analysis showed significant relationship between IHD, age, marital status, education and development of other chronic disorders with quality of life p<0.05 , and no significant correlation has been found between the place of residence and gender with self-care ability p> 0.05 .Conclusion: The results indicated mild self-care ability among the study participants which is affected by basic influential factors including the level of patients’ health. Therefore, planning authorities and health team members must provide educational services to patients with a purpose improve self-care behaviors can be largely prevented the readmission of patients and obviously it helped the family economy and society.
