Abstract:

Introduction: The use of topical disinfectants for blood culture sampling has great importance and can help in the proper detection of bacteria present in the blood and reduce the rate of growth of the infecting bacteria. Methods: To evaluate the effect of Betadine and Septicidine on blood samples of patients referred to emergency department of Bou Ali Sina Hospital, Staph Epidermis, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus, Ecoli, Asentobacter, Klebsiella , Enterococcus were studied for two years. More over samples during 2 years were 2002. The total number of grown environments was 711 and702 were contaminated. In this study bacterium Epidermis p≤0.000, Escherichia coli p≤ 0.000, Streptococcus p≤0.000, Ecolia p≤0.000 and Asentobacter p≤0.001 and Klebsiella p≤0.000and Entercoc p≤0.007 were not significant for this difference. The important point was that the contaminants were the most abundant with 702 cases in all cultured medium and there was no significant difference between the two bacterial growth disinfectants p≤0.002.Discussion: Considering the growth of bacteria in both samples and the similar disinfectant effect between the two substances have great Importance: first the contamination Plays significant important role and the second that the materials used are for non-controversial reasons such as cost, Smells, skin effects and ... have been measured.
