خلاصه مقاله:
Background and Aim : Due to the global decline in the quality of human sperm in recent decades, there has been much concern. Since men s fertility and sperm quality can be influenced by many factors, changes in environmental and lifestyle factors can be considered as one of the factors involved. Factors affecting lifestyle include obesity, smoking, alcohol use, stress, and diet. Methods : In this article summary, to investigate Impact of lifestyle on sperm quality, the most recent articles in this field have been studied in valid databases such as PubMed, Elsevier and google scholar. Results : researches shown that obesity, smoking, alcohol use, stress, and unhealthy diet associated with decline of sperm quality. The general effect of cigarette smoking on male fertility may result from the combined roles of elevated oxidative stress, DNA damage, and cell apoptosis, which could explain not only the reduction in semen quality, but also impaired spermatogenesis, sperm maturation, and sperm function. Alcohol appears to interfere with the production of GnRH, FSH, LH, and testosterone, as well as impair the functions of Leydig and Sertoli cells. As a result, the production, morphological development and maturation of spermatozoa could be impaired. Obesity can reduce sperm quality through oxidative stress, lower testosterone levels, and secondary hypogonadism. Weakening of testosterone secretion forms the main basis underlying the harmful effects of psychological stress on spermatogenesis. Vegetables and fruits, fish and poultry, cereals and low-fat dairy products are amongst the foods positively associated with sperm quality. However, diets consisting of processed meat, full-fat dairy products, alcohol, coffee, and sugar-sweetened beverages are associated with poor semen quality. Conclusion : Given the impact of lifestyle items on sperm quality in men, changing unhealthy lifestyles can be one of the ways to improve sperm quality and achieve fertility in men.
