خلاصه مقاله:
This paper presents an experimental investigation on the compression behavior of hollow fiber reinforced composite cylinders with and without shape memory alloy wires subjected to quasi-static loading. Two specimens of hollow cylinders made of glass continuous filament (GCF) epoxy composite and shape memory alloy hybrid composites (SMAHC) are prepared and subjected to compression loading. Specimens were prepared by hand layup method and cured at room temperature. For each SMAHC specimen, four-layered laminate of GCF epoxy composite was used. Eight NiTi shape memory alloy wires with the wires direction of 450 are placed between the second and the third layers of GCF. The GCF specimens are also tested without shape memory wires. The effect of shape memory wire on the maximum load bearing capacity of each SMAHC specimens and composite specimens are investigated. Results of the compression test showed that the SMAHC specimens have the maximum stress of about 118.7 MPa and 140.6 MPa. GCF composite specimens have the maximum stress of 94.75 MPa and 98.29 MPa. Results showed that the composite specimens with four layer GCF epoxy composite filled with shape memory wire have higher load capacity than composite specimens without shape memory wire. More results are presented in the full length paper
