Abstract:

In this study, HVOF thermal spray method is used to increase the strength of structures against crack growth and defeat using stelait6 powder. The effects of spraying angle, distance of spraying and speed of spray gun are investigated. The samples are prepared based on the ASTM 1000 standard and according the condition of spraying machine. The coating process performed according to standard ASTM C66 on samples of stainless steel 304. It is seen that thermal residual stresses due to the thermal spraying process results in delamination of surface coat and the maximum fracture force is less than without coat specimens. Also, increasing the spraying angle leads to decreasing the particle deposition while increasing the distance of spay reduces the temperature of specimens. In addition, particle deposition on the surface reduces due to the increasing the speed of spray gun.
