Abstract:

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) represents the most important cause of sudden cardiac death. Interaction between genetic and environmental factors, individual susceptibility to the development of CAD, it is one of the MMP2 gene. Dysfunction genetic variants of the MMP2 gene are associated with risk of CAD. Objective:The aim of the current study was to explore the posssible association between the risk of coronary artery diseasewith polymorphism of 1306C/T in the MMP2 gene. Methods: This study included 170 patients with coronary artery disease and 81 control subjects. Genomic DNA was isolated from whole blood and genotyping was performed by the polymerase chain reaction-estriction fragment lengthpolymorphism ( PCR-RFLP ) method. Result: In this survey, there was a significant association between genotype CT and CAD that the risk of CAD amongpeople with CT genotype is about 46% of the other genotypes. Among the other variables the only sex showed statistically significant relation with CAD . cigarette smoking had a borderline relation with CAD. Conclusion: The analysis showed a significant increase in the risk of CAD in individuals who have CT genotype. Among the variables the only sex and cigarette smoking showed significant relationship with CAD.
