Abstract:
An evaporative drying process of the porous bodies in a raw is numerically studied and effects of configuration on heat and mass transfer has been considered. The analysis is based on Two-dimensional Navier-Stokes, concentration and energy equations (air) and energy and moisture transfer equations ( porous zone). According to numerical results, drying rate for first body is higher than others, however; this rate is approximately equal for next bodies. Another conclusion from results was that, in heat and mass transfer of first body, ‘top surface’ and ‘surface opposite to the flow direction’ have equal importance; while top surface of next bodies plays major role in drying process. It was shown that moisture and temperature profiles of the first body have essential difference with other subjects. Finally by changing distance between porous bodies, no significant effect on heat and mass transfer and drying rate was observed.
