Abstract:

Objective: This qualitative research examined the perspectives of Iranian nurses regardingpatient education. Iranian Nurses perceptions and beliefs about this essential feature of carehave not been studied enough. So, this article explored twelve nurses understandings ofpatient education in their practices by inspecting their feelings, beliefs, and using patienteducation.Method:Study design: This research was conducted to explain the challenges of nurses educationalrole using qualitative content analysis.Data collection/extraction methods: Data gathered using semi-structured interviews that wereconducted with Nurses. The interviews were transcribed and underwent in-depth analysis tofind trends and consensus.Results: the perceptions of nurses were presented through the following four themes: healthsystem problems, underlying factors; the need to change the structures; and educationalfacilitators.Conclusions: The results of this study showed that the health system should provide nurseswith the necessary tools and equipment to provide patient education, as well as new nursingcareer promotion rules to improve their educational role.
