Abstract:

Introduction : Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women and the first leading cause of female cancer related deaths . mortality rate decreased in developed countries But there were increased changes in breast cancer incidence and mortality in Iran . We aimed to determine the 10 years mortality rate of breast cancer in Yazd province. Method: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, Data for cause of Yazdian deaths due to breast cancer were collected from the death registration System, performed on all death certificate sheets from March 2001 to March 2010. data were analyzed by EPI software. Result: In yazd , 340 Breast Cancer deaths ( 332 female ) were registered during the period 1380–1389 . breast cancer accounted for 14.2 % of all cancer deaths and it was first cause of cancer death in yazdian women. The mean age of death was 58.2 and 54.8 % of them were died before 6rd decade of life.The highest mean mortality rate was observed in 50-59 ( 25 % ) .10.2 % of deaths were under 40 years old . in this period mortality rates in women was 9.4 : 100000 that increased from 6.4 (2001) to 108 per 10000 (2010). Conclusion: Women s education and the integration of screening women at risk the health system due to the direct impact on reducing mortality and improving the quality of life of patients is essential.
