Check the status of self-examination and periodic examinations of the breast in women under 50 years of Kermanshah

Introduction & aim: Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in women worldwide. Due to the characteristics of the disease such as slow growth, and if the treatment is detected in the early stages of the disease, screening as one of the most important methods of disease control. This study aimed to evaluate breast self-examination and periodic examinations on women under 50 years has been Kermanshah. Methods: This cross-sectional study in 1394 with 500 women under 50 years of outpatients clinic of Imam Reza (AS) Kermanshah. Data were collected using standard questionnaires and through interviews with a random sampling was performed. Data analysis was performed using spss software version 22. Results: A total of 500 completed questionnaires, 35.8% (179) of the women had a history of BSE and 64.2% (321 patients) were unprecedented and were unaware of this issue. 68.7% of women who had a history of breast self-examination (123 patients) and persistent regularly once a month, 5.61% (n = 28) had performed breast self-examination. In relation to the history and clinical examination by a doctor consultation 19.5% (97 patients) with a history, and 80.6% (403 patients) had no history. Conclusion: The results of this study provide appropriate educational programs on the importance of periodic checkups andbreast self-examination for early detection and identification of individuals at risk and effective intervention studies.
