Introduction and Objective: Salvia genus belongs to Lamiaceae family. Some species of this genus have been used since ancient due to therapeutics properties. The aim of this study was evaluation of antifungal effect of Methanolic fractions of Salvia rhytidea Benth extract on different species of Candida.Materials and Methods: In this study, antifungal effects of the Methanolic fractions of S. rhytidea Benth extract against various Candida isolates was assayed by broth microdilution method.Result: MIC and MFC values of Methanolic fractions of S. rhytidea Benth extract ranged from 25 -200 μg/ ml and ≥200 μg/ml, respectively. The MIC and MFC of ME fraction were 25, 50, 100 and 200 μg/ml for C. glabrata, C. parapsilosis, C. krusei and C. lusitaniae, respectively. Conclusion: Our result indicates that ME fractions of S. rhytidea possesses extract good antifungal effect against Candida isolates.
