Abstract:Makran subduction at Oman Sea is the source of the most severe tsunamis in the region at 1945 which took more than 4000 lives in Pakistan, Iran and the WesternIndia . Makran subduction is located at 63.6o Longitude and 24.92o Latitude. The magnitude of the earthquake was 8.1 Richters with the focal depth of 15 kilometers. Thegenerated tsunamis of Makran subduction are the potential of hazards for developing coastlines of northern Oman Sea and Chabahar bay. In this article, the generation andpropagation of tsunami generated by Makran subduction is simulated and the run-up height on Chabahar bay coastlines is predicted. The algorithm of Okada is adoptedfor generation of tsunami and Flow 3D software is applied for wave propagation and prediction of run-up height.
