Abstract:

Background and Aim : Background: Rapid advances of information technologies, access of over 85% of the world’s population to computers, mobiles and smart phones and necessity of patient care, especially in the context of burn care has raised use of IT for management of patients with burn scar. Methods : Material and Methods: We conducted a systematic review study to assess information technology interventions for management of patients with burn scar. A comprehensive search was conducted in Medline, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library to identify relevant papers that were published until May 2019. Studies that assessed at least one electronic health system or application in patients with burn scar, and reported at least one outcome were included Results : Findings: Out of 4516 papers retrieved, 5 studies met the inclusion criteria. Interventions were delivered via smart phones and applications. The studies had revealed the effects of the interventions as statistically significant positive. All of them claimed that could transmit images and information for burn wound assessment and management. The main findings were that this is feasible to photographs transmitting and decrease referrals. Conclusion : Conclusion: The evidence indicates the potential of electronic health system interventions in management outcomes of in patients with burn scar increasingly being used to support management in patients with burn scar.
