Pediatric GVHD: An Overview of Cutaneous Manifestations

Cutaneous graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) as a complex disease order to circumvent/control the long-term sequelae of this condition.process is marked by both acute and chronic alterations. Our knowledgeon the basic mechanisms triggering this condition continues to evolve.In fact, the clinical manifestations of this disease are largely dependenton the interplay between inflammation and fibrosis that needs to be fullycomprehended. It appears that cutaneous manifestations of GvHD varyin the pediatric population. Further, evaluation by a dermatologist withknowledge of the spectrum of GvHD appearances might be helpful interms of making a prompt diagnosis. While steroids remain as the first linemedication modality to control the disease, a number of investigationsare underway to categorize alternative treatment modalities to managethis condition, in particular within the pediatric population.
